League of Women Voters of the Midland Area

The League of Women Voters of the Midland area is a local, nonpartisan civic organization affiliated with the state and national League of Women Voters organizations. The League works to support voters by encouraging active participation in government and voting, increasing understanding of major public policy issues and influencing policy through education and advocacy. Membership is open to people 16 years and older of all gender identities and offers opportunities for leadership, advocacy and networking. To inquire, email us at [email protected].

Primary Candidates Information Available

Updated Information on the candidates for national, state and local offices in theAugust 6th primary election in Midland County is now available on Vote411.org, anon-line information resource published by the League of Women Voters EducationFund. Voters enter their address into the site to view candidates for their area aswell as the candidates’ answers to relevant questions. Vote411.org may also beused to register to vote. Registered Michigan voters may choose to participate in either the Democratic orRepublican primary but may not participate in both. Contested primary races oflocal interest are the U.S. Senate and House District 8 for both major politicalparties and for Drain Commissioner and Sheriff for Republicans at the county level. July 15 – Primary forum to be held at MCTV – 7-8 p.m. for contested Republican candidates for Sheriff, County Commissioner District 6 and Drain Commissioner.  July 23 – Meet the Candidates Event at Creative 360 – 6-8 p.m. All Midland County candidates and members and the public are invited to attend. October 1 & 2 – General Election forums to be held at MCTV. Details to follow.
